Interview with Dead World Boy, Skitz Tha Retrospect

The year is in full swing and so are we. Hello February!!! We kick start the new month with our first music interview - he goes by the name of Skitz Tha Retrospect [Skitz for short], also known as Butter, Dead World Boy, Chester, Retro Vogue, Hype1, Irko Darth... man, we could list all these unorthodox names, but best we get to know the lad a bit better, right?
The PTA rapper is known for his alternative sounds and esoteric attributes. Word on the street is homie is set to release his new EP later this month. Check out what he had to say about his music and new year projects.

RVL: What's the hardest part about being an independent artist?

Skitz: Being independent is nothing difficult to be honest with you. I have full control over my craft, nobody tells me how to do what I do and when to do it. Although a major would help with exposure but it's nothing I won't be able to live without you know?

RVL: You're obviously very alternative in your craft as well as your being. Where does your creativity stem from?

Skitz: Dreams and nightmares. Everything starts as a vision or even a fantasy. I've been able to take every experience and turn it into more than just mental power but as a base of creation. It's an endless stream of me that inspires it all.

RVL: What does being a young African mean to you in a time where the need for self knowledge is vital?

Skitz: Preservation, growth, awareness and love. That's what it means to me and more. I love being African and I love being present in such times.

RVL: Describe music in one word.

Skitz: Ascension... YEAH! That's what it is

RVL: How important is it to balance out the relationship between where you are with where you see yourself in the future?

Skitz: Sometimes I feel like I should let it all go and look full steam ahead into the future, but then I remember that to do that I have to remember to protect myself through every journey. I can't leave Skitz behind cause Skitz is growing and he will change the world forever.

RVL: Your lyrical content and skill is nostalgic and mature. Who do you become when you're in your zone?

Skitz: I become what and who I was growing up. I take a trip into the vault (my soul) and pick apart every available story. No alter ego formed against the ill mind of this multi-layered indigo shall prosper!

RVL: You're quite the young lad, and you've been described as the next Blu. What does it take to be this good a rapper?

Skitz: Write religiously, write like your ability to express yourself is under threat. Keep at it till the words make you sick. Till you don't even want to speak anymore. Take ownership of not only your raps but the entire game! It's all yours!

RVL: It's a new year and you've prepared quite an interesting music compilation. Tell us about your next EP.

Skitz: The new EP's called MNDWRK. MNDWRK basically meaning everyday mental activity, what you do, who you want to be and where your dreams may lead you. I worked with Thapelo, LyricalTIP  and Skivvy G from the OTI Family, the homie  JanXCYnnamon, and Chino from parallelworldz.

RVL: What can people expect?

Skitz: Blissful noises. That's the best way to describe it ha hahaha!!

RVL: What's your favourite track from it?

Skitz: All 20 of them to be honest with you.

RVL: How different is it from Summer: In Butter's Locker?

Skitz: Its a completely different experience, I think I've discovered the magic.

RVL: Where can the masses reach you, and your music?
