Movie Review - No Good Deed

Idris Elba who plays the role of Colin in the movie No Good Deed, does a good job at playing the psychotic narcissist, who has been accused of manslaughter as well as murdering 5 women.

When I saw the trailer, it was a given that myself and I would go watch it, and that we did. The psychology behind the script is one to be beckoned with... If psychology is your thing and if you get a kick out of the underlying humour of deranged insanity, then this should tickle your fancy.

I personally love thrillers, they are my favourite type of drama when it comes to the art of film-making. The sound effects have to catch the heart and make your blood race - as did this movie. Every scenario had me inadvertently grabbing a hand full of popcorn, with big eyes and my whole self on the edge of my seat! Lol I'm a sucker for hunks too!

Colin's beastly frame was always being represented through silhouettes and top view camera shots. His muscles were accentuated, which would serve well in correlation to his handsome features. I mean, why would a strong, good looking man be of any harm, right? His facial expressions will make you think twice. His demented eye and switching of mood will delude you into thinking you were the victim in the movie. Literally and figuratively.

Which brings me to Taraji P Henson who happens to be one of my favourite female actors. She plays Terry, a strong married woman with two kids, she's a former prosecutor who dealt with cases against women abuse. Which is the irony of the movie - brilliant if you ask me. If you've ever seen the movie Enough, starring Jennifer Lopez, you'll notice how the creatives shied away from depicting the lady as a weak victim who gets murdered in the end. Oh no. SHE KICKS ASS! And throws in a few of her own punches. It's liberating and inspiring to see.

The movie however does have elements of warning signs. As much as it is entertainment regarding storytelling, it is insightful and eye-opening to women who are in abusive relationships or who have been victims of any kind of assault and need help in reading the signs on 'stranger-danger'.

So! 1h24min is worth the watch. Had it been stretched out, the plot would have been redundant. Oh! And there's a twist in the movie that I think I should spare. It had me. It will have you too.
